Hello World
Welcome to the blog! This journal logs various things I wish to share. Why share these things with the world?
There is lots of color in this world. The simple things present so much joy. Please imagine the morning sunglight pouring in through the blinds or the oppressive summer heat wrapped around you. Each of these phenomenons bring so much happiness. How much joy can come from things not so simple? An incredible amount! I wish to show that to others.
Its not as simple as just wishing to share joy with others. Young people like me have an uphill battle. Growing up with the internet, mobile technology, and social media has mentally neutered alot of them. This digital life has replaced our creativity, motivation, adventureness. I spent my summer breaks hiding away and wasting time on the internet. I was looking for that next dopamine hit from a youtube video or video game. None of it truely satisfying me. I lacked purpose and meaning.
Our parents and grandparents didn’t help much because they haven’t adapted to modernity’s problems. They grew up in the old paradigms, explored a world as it opened up, and integrated technologies as they came. The new generation is kept shut-in, entertained with technology, and placated with drugs. Neither could they explain the meaining of our lives that would call one to reach to higher levels.
A series of life events taught me that I didn’t have to live like that. Things could be better! I almost failed an entire semester at university. With an incredible amount of luck, I scrapped by with the worst grades of my life. My coasting-attitude wasn’t going to cut it. I couldn’t be useless for the rest of my life. I immediatly got to studying. My grades improved and life was good. I graduated, got a job, moved across the country, and started work.
I was truely independent for the first time and on my own. The rest of my life stared at me. It was urging me to get better quickly. I went to the gym, lost weight, started volunteering, found friends. I started new hobbies along the way because there had to be more to life than working and chores. My life suddenly had so much color. People are amazed when they find out I do more than two things outside of work.
Comparing myself to others, everyone could be living happier lives if they just did a little bit more. Try harder at work, with friends, and with their community. Imagine the color we each could bring to one another. Our lives are symponies with each person a player. The notes, melody, and rythem brining something new to admire. But we have to be able to play in this band. It doesn’t have to be an intrument. The delicious foods to be made and shared. The incredible art to make and display. The music to play and dance to. The traditions to share and continue.
This journal serves hopefully as:
- Evidence that things can be different and better.
- A map to others on how to create this color.
- Motivation to keep trying no matter what!
